January 2007

October 2006

Eid Kareem! HUMA hosted an Eid gathering for members and friends in the Boston area. In attendance were Harvard students and alumni, past and present, who gathered to celebrate the joyous occasion together. If you are interested in hosting a HUMA gathering in your neighborhood, contact Faiz.

 

September 2006

Ramadan Mubarak! HUMA sponsored Food Drives during Ramadan, the month of charity in Islam, for the benefit of our members' local communities, including New Haven, CT. The New Haven Food Drive was run in collaboration with the Muslim Students Association at Yale and the International Silat Federation, with proceeds going to the local New Haven Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen. For more info on how to get involved in HUMA's community service initiatives in your local community, email Sara. In addition, HUMA sponsored a regional iftar in New York City, for members and friends throughout the region.

 

September 2005

Results of HUMA’s first election were announced.  Please see the contact page for information about the new officers.

 

August 2005

HUMA’s first elections were held, with nominations and votes collected via email by the Election Committee. 

 

June 2005

HUMA’s first General Assembly meeting was held in Cambridge, Mass, during Harvard’s annual reunion weekend.  Visit the reunion section of our website for a summary of how it went.

 

March 2005

Official ties were established with the Harvard Alumni Association and the Harvard Islamic Society.

 

February 2005

Invitation letters were sent to potential members.  IRS tax-exempt paperwork was filed. 

 

January 2005

A bank account was opened in Cambridge, Mass.  The website was completed, including a feature that allows members to pay dues online.

 

December 2004

The constitution and IRS paperwork were finalized.

 

November 2004

Our interim executive board was appointed, and web server space was obtained.
